The Society AGM took place on 12 June in the Garry Weston Library at Southwark Cathedral. There were eighty attendees.
The meeting was introduced by the outgoing President, Admiral Sir Ian Forbes, who announced that his successor would be Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier, the current Chief of the Air Staff who will take over in October 2019 on his retirement from the Service.
The business of the day was routine; the accounts were adopted, Council members re-elected and the Chief Executive summarised the events of the last year. The Society had a good story to tell; it was on a sound financial footing, its membership was expanding, and its services remained very much in demand from an Armed Forces community which had a growing appetite for pension information which could often only be sourced from the Society. The Society also remained busy in its watchdog role, scrutinising the actions of the MOD and the government.
