Earlier this year, Mr G* contacted us to find out whether his 6 years in the Armed Forces entitled him to a pension.
He left in the early 80s and preserved pensions were still quite new and not well understood. We determined that, on the face of it, he met the criteria in force at the time of his discharge and helped him complete the claim from. There was some to-ing and fro-ing about his Life Time Allowance (LTA) on another occupational pension which came into payment before the LTA was introduced – an issue which nearly stopped him claiming as he thought it was insurmountable but we resolved for him.
We are pleased to report that he has now heard that his is to receive a pension of about £2K and a tax free lump sum of over £6K…… and two years back pension. Well done Mr G*.
